Day 13 - Sketch art

Just a quick one I'm doing today of a anime type face. I was always a manga style drawer. Since I'll be working late I thought I'd knock this out now. Kinda went drunk on the lines for shading and the facial figure is quite feminine. Overall, a good 10 min sketch!

Day 12 - "Bingle" The Lancer

This time round I added a little perspective to establish the wheels and the result was a perspective that could not fit on an A4 page. Thought I'd end car week with a fitting tribute to my current car which I call Bingle. A good outcome compared to yesterday's flop. I guess I need to ease into concept car drawing. Know more about simple geometry lines of the present cars before I go line drunk on uber awesome concepts. Still. I would like to revisit car drawings but for the next week, I'll draw what I want :P

Day 11 - BMW Hybrid Concept

I have spent 30 minutes trying to upload this and it is just not my day here! First of all this does not do justice to the beautiful BMW concept everyone would know by now. And worse, the dam uploader doesn't want to rotate the picture! Very annoyed and so not my day but hey another day another drawing. Quite embarrassed to put this up but oh well! They can't all be awesome-ish

Day 10 - Draw from Nothing

Looking like a Celica which I guess is true. I left my IPad at Lai's house so I just drew from what I have learned so far without copying angles or referencing. Which is more so what I can remember so far. Which is the Celica or attempt of a Celica from yesterday. Any who! That's the drawing done today. Really need to focus on the Wheels and subtle line work for the front of the cars. Also tried the technique to erase the full look of the tires so the car doesn't look grounded. A lesson taught by Mark Wilken from uni.
Still a lot more to go but hey improving at least!

Day 9 - Toyota Celica

My first racing game Need for Speed Underground saw me fall instantly in love with the Celica SX. At the time my brother purchased the original Celica and them upgraded to the model above. The only thing I have to say is that I stuffed up the round shape of the hood. The overal perspective is quite off.

Day 8 - Toyota Tarago

My childhood family car, I thought I should pay tribute to the wonderful adventures we had as a family taking us to places such as Mildura, Mount Gambier, Blue lake. So much memories! I much loved the moon roof which opened wide so that we could stand up and stick our heads out catching the breeze. Good times.

This one was down to the wire and finished just minutes before midnight. I really don't like how I did the windows here really poor.

Happy Week Old! Day 7 - Mitsubishi iMiev

So I almost mis-spelled mieV... Oops. This was done within 45 minutes, still copied but with less copic detail. Even drawing this line by line, I still somehow skew the perspective. And the wheels?... Still, happy with the overall look. Still haven't tried to mix medias though I'm hopping the extra pop will come from that!

Found this car by googling "vroom car" just for kicks.

Car Week! Day 6 - Acura NSX

Not really a car nut but I do want draw my own concept cars some day! This is copied from an image I pulled typing car into google which turned out to be the NSX.

Taking a lot longer than my other sketches so far and with a shitty out of ink W5, I gave it a quick render. Difficult thing to establish when drawing a concept car from scratch for me is the perspective and all the details in the front and side of the car including the wheels! Damn I'm not a car person... Not yet!

Day 5 - Robotech

Anyone know where this is from? Thought my drawing today would come from my childhood. Ahh yes Robotech. One of the first animes I watched and probably the reason I like mechas, planes and transforming stuff. Well anywho I'm thinking of an entire picture for this and I only managed the line art. I hope I can return to this and work on it digitally.

If people don't think this counts as a a completed drawing then...

The shadow is a bit shitty but this was still copied but done within 20 minutes! Getting better. Maybe it is easy to skectch oh well!

Day 4 - Couldn't be Brothered

Almost forgot to do my sketch for today and nearing midnight I thought I'd just do an observational drawing. The good thing is that It was quick to do (for me quick was 30min) but more drawing will bring more pace and finesse. Seems like my rendering has remained the same, just some quick 3 tones used. Perhaps mixing medias next time for more effect. Anywho, done for the day!

Day 3 - A message of Love

Long overdue but I dedicated today to my girlfriend. A quick sketch and first time I've ever done a successful dog (she loves dogs). Just used pen and black pencil. Still lacking depth of tone but oh we'll let's see how I am in day 2 hundred something.

Day 2 - 360 Fold Out Solar Still Concept

My final uni project was quite ambitious that saw me centering around water and harnessing it for good. I went from researching household micro generators to be attached to water mains to the more sensible, solar still concepts for rural third world countries. I had gone through so many iterations that even my teacher had not seen the concept in my final presentation... And what a fail that concept was!

Any-who, this was me revisiting that path trying to redeem myself. This was inspired from a simple solar still that would stretch out into a larger container.

My concept works like a hand fan that stretches instead of 180 degrees, 360 degrees forming a full circle still.

Yeah I know! Far from any resolution I'm already asking

  • How does the user fill the vessel?
  • Can something like that be manufactured?
  • How does the user get to the clean water?
  • What about the cavities inside? How will it behave when folded in?
Who knows? But if I do have some time, i would lie to return and explore its potential or save me the effort and someone (an engineer perhaps) tell me that this concept is not viable.

Day 1 - Remote control Concept

A quick concept that inspired me because we are always losing the remote at our house.

Features

  • A remote with simple touchscreen capabilities. With accelerometer for any angle adaptability.
  • The remote runs on lith-ion batteries that can be charged by the dock in the TV
  • The remote can be lowered into the dock whilst charging
  • The key feature here is the ability to wirelessly find the remote by pressing the 'call button' on the TV set
